Cal turns TWO

Happy Birthday Cal!
For the record, in the past 6 mos Cal has grown almost 3 inches and 2lbs 6oz. Which makes him a tall skinny kid, ~80th% and ~20th% (no surprise there).

To Maine

Not one to rest on laurels, Cal trooped off to Maine for the weekend and was again an excellent little traveler. A few photos documenting some of the highlights...
I think Cal gets the joke, even if he can't read.

Apparently my unpacking was too disorganized for Cal. So he reorganized.

Then, after a few days of ignoring the stubble and giving us all beard burn with his kisses, he gave up and shaved. Oh, never mind, that was Fred.





Then, finally, there was fun on the beach. You just can't tell from Cal's expression. I think he found the camera an unwelcome distraction from his big plans to relocate the sand.










































Almost got a smile in that last one.

Vaca

Cal did a great job on the flight but by the time we got to the ferry he was pooped. You'd never know the boat was bouncing up and down like crazy (and neither did he!)
The first morning he was a little tired, but the beach proved worth staying awake for.

So Cal is laughing at...himself. No, Dad isn't tickling his toes under the table. He's watching a video of himself, wait for it.... sneezing! Hysterical, I know. All the same, what better sound is there than baby giggles. :) By the way - check out the new stats to the right there. He's a growing boy. Up if not out any way. Still 75th for height and um yeah, 10th for weight.

I just want to say that Cal did this all by himself. He asked for all the bibs to be put on and HE raided the bathing suit drawer (yes - those are my bikinis). We don't know what it means and we don't want to.

New Toy - old school style

So we will soon have a downstairs neighbor. Said neighbor recently purchased a new washer/dryer delivered by nice men in a big truck. This in and of itself was super cool because they parked out front for a while and the truck could be studied while open and closed. They also had very large cardboard boxes that they were going to take away! Mommy ran out to save one (in the snow even!). The nice men chuckled and gave her a big box which is now a pretty cool toy. Who needs ToysRUs?

I had planned to hold off until high school or at least junior high. Then, like so many parents before us, we got new phones and thought, why not give Cal one of our old ones. But we didn't recharge it for him so it quickly became way boring. Grammie to the rescue. He totally got it too. First time he flipped it open it rang and he put it up to his ear! We may be raising a monster. Oh well, he'll be a tech-savvy one anyway. Oh yeah, and Cal says he wants the next cell to come with a qwerty pad. It's all about the texting.
